You can specify initial stress as a loading in ANSYS when doing a structural analysis. Initial stress loading is only allowed in a static or full transient analysis (the analysis can be linear or nonlinear). Initial stresses can be applied only in the first load step of an analysis. <BR><BR>This initial stress capability is only supported by the following element types: PLANE2, PLANE42, SOLID45, PLANE82, SOLID92, SOLID95, LINK180, SHELL181, PLANE182, PLANE183, SOLID185, SOLID186, SOLID187, BEAM188, and BEAM189.<BR>
